I am Makeda, or Candace Makeda H. Moore- and this website is like myself a work in progress. Please bear with me as I put it together.
I would like to adress the issue of why I call myself a "belly dancer." The term has the fingerprints of western racist colonialist fantasy all over it. I look forward to the day when I can tell people I perform raqs sharki and other middle eastern and north african dances- and they will know what I'm talking about. We don't call flamenco "foot dancing" now do we?!
