This Site is dedicated to the family of James Richard
and Mary Jane (Shaw) Haslam.

The Parents


James Richard Haslam (Dad) —was born in Dracut, Mass.,in February, 1900, the first of his family to be born in this country. He served with the 26th Inf., 104th division in France during WWI and was involved in just about every major engagement. He and Mom met in Peterboro, NH and were married in Chicopee, Mass in 1921. They remained in Chicopee for the rest of their married life. Richard was born in 1922 and Jean and Jim came into their lives in 1929. During the depression, he was employed by the Post Office, from which he retired, which kept us from being poor. (Click on picture to see his parents.)

Mary Jane (Shaw) Haslam (Mom) — was born in Boston, Mass to Fred Alva and Jennie (Arlott) Shaw. The family moved to Peterboro, NH sometime in the early 1900s. (Click on picture for family pictures.)


Mom and Dad, circa 1950s — This picture was taken in the living room at 89 Academy St., Chicopee (explained below. Son, Dick, was married and living upstairs, Jim, was in the Marine Corps and Jean was still living at home.

 

 

Mom, Jim, Jean and Dick — This picture was taken in the 50's. Mom and Dad and Dick and family were residing at 89 Academy Ave., Chicopee, at the time. Dick had purchased a two-story home and he and wife, Marie, lived upstairs and Mom, Dad and Jean were enscounced downstairs. Jim was in the Marine Corps and was home on leave from Camp Lejeune in North Carolina.
