MEMO

DATE: October 28, 2004
TO: All CUBECOM personnel in C Division
FROM: Lucille Frost, Human Relations
RE: Revised Policy on Workspace Decorations

CUBECOM recognizes each employee's desire to personalize his or her cubicle or other workstation with decorations that are both appealing and tell one's colleagues a little about oneself. CUBECOM is also conscious of the fact that artwork, photographs, and other images displayed in common work areas should not be: offensive, profane, vulgar, provocative, subversive, overly large, untidy, or distracting.

We have worked with various focus groups and the HR Committee On Decency over the last 12 months to develop the following policy for the appropriate display of workspace visual material.

Effective November 3, 2004, employees in C Division may decorate their workstation with any one of the six wall hangings available through the "ART CHOICE" program.

Each "ART CHOICE" tile is exactly 80 inches square. The choices are:

- Cropped reproduction of Monet's "Water Lilies."
- Cropped reproduction of Van Gogh's "Starry Night."
- Photograph of a smiling man in a sweater throwing a snowball.
- Photograph of a woman on a beach wearing sun hat and sunglasses.
- A rustic crayon drawing of a Thanksgiving turkey by third grade student Nathan Peck.
- A cartoon poster featuring a frazzled-looking character asking the rhetorical question: "Is it Friday yet?" (Staff that choose this last option will not receive demerits in their evaluations for inciting poor morale.)

All employees in C Division will find a one inch square of Vel-Cro® fabric affixed to the partition divider inside their station. This square of fabric will be located to the right of your computer monitor if you are in a KDR or KDH workstation, and will be located to the left and slightly above your computer tower if you are in a DBIII or DBIV type workstation. (If you are not sure what type of workstation you have, or are otherwise unable to locate this piece of Vel-Cro® fabric, please contact your appropriate HR representative for assistance.)

The back of each "ART CHOICE" tile has been affixed with a corresponding square of Vel-Cro® fabric and may be displayed only in the location of your mounting square. Your "ART CHOICE" tile may not be displayed upside-down, sideways, or askew without the written permission of your supervisor.

Each employee will be issued only one (1) tile. If an employee does not wish to display an "ART CHOICE" tile, he or she may opt out of the program by completing form 23-04-ACDW ("ART CHOICE" Denial Waiver.)

All installations will be performed by maintenance staff. Please stop by Human Relations at your earliest convenience to browse these six attractive tiles, and arrange for installation.

In preparation for the "ART CHOICE" implementation plan, any unauthorized decorations and graphic material remaining in your workstation after midnight on 11/2/2004 will be removed and destroyed at that time.
