My Present Location: Hollywood, Florida USA
During each journey, of which there have been six separate trips complete with outdoor evangelism and church revival meetings, I always insist on two things: 1) I ask to hold home meetings in every city I travel to, and 2) I ask to visit the orphans. We became known as a ministry that is not all talk, but also walks forth with the deeds of Jesus.
Now, since December, 2007, the situation in Kenya has become very distressed, and some of the very people we preached to have been burned out of their houses, hacked to death and many are now camping out in and around the only church I have ever founded: in Mukhonje, Kenya. Mukhonje is an area of inhabited bush that lies between Eldoret and Webuye, in Western Kenya, approximately 60 miles from the Uganda border.
The pictures that follow show the refugees and their camp that we at WPA have helped establish and support in 2008.
The area pictured is near Mukhonje. I do not have much to say about them. A picture paints a thousand words, and these twenty pictures do not need much commentary.
My friend, Apostle David Walukhu is prominently featured in a long sleeved white shirt. His wife Selina is shown looking quite weary in several pictures. I understand that she is cooking for 300 souls.
As we reach more nations, we will reach more orphans and more people who have desperate needs and this page will expand. That is just fine. Whereever I meet them, I become one of their fathers. I cannot turn a blind eye to them.
Please help us to help them, in any way that you can. The Lord promises in His word that you can only LEND to them. You cannot give.......you can only LEND. He is their Father. Think about it!
The photos you have seen were accompanied by a letter from David Walukhu. I think you ought to read about what is going on over there from his perspective on February 25, 2008:
Dear prophet Stephen and the Team,
I greet you in the name of Jesus Christ. I am sending today a detailed report so that you can know how to pray better and also, for letting our brothers and sisters over there pray for Kenya. The situation is really worrying and we do not know when peace is really coming.
Recently we spent $3,000 dollars from the Watchmen Prophets Assembly team, and we bought some foodstuffs and blankets for more than 400 families. This week we engaged in a mission to rescue/evacuate one of our pastors Ben and his family who have been camping at the police camp in kipkaren .
We later visited some of his church members who have also been displaced and camping in refugee camps. We were able to buy some blankets and foodstuffs. During the mission, we were able to interview the following:
(1) Pastor BEN & LINDA,
Arsonists struck in the morning at 7.00am and attacked the whole village. He was able to rescue his 8 children and they ran for safety at the nearest police camp that is 2km away from home. His house was burnt. They lost everything including 56 bags of maize, 12 cows, beddings and everything. They lost Samuel his uncle.
(2) Our church is 3 kilomitres away from kipkaren, and all the Kipkaren members who are affected are now in our church, Also our mukhonje Elder patrick was attacked and he took the day narrating a very sad ordeal. Before he escaped, arsonists found him at his neighbor's home. They then shot dead his host, wife and 67 year old woman before burning their house. He only escaped when he ran in the herd of cows and arrows meant to down him ended on animals. He then ran to the police camp where he found his wife and 6 other children already there. We also brought him and now, he is in my church compound in Mukhonje.
(3) mukombosi 48 year old woman
Her husband was murdered using machetes. She survived with 7 children aged between 2 years and 16 years old. She was mercilessly beaten too and has many injuries.
(4) lyne wasike 30 years old woman
She has a 7 month old child. Her house was burned down. She and her husband all fled in different directions and does not know whether the husband is alive or dead because its now one week and doesn't know his whereabouts.
(5) nasike wanjala 47 year old woman
She has 5 children of between 5 years and 16 years old. Her husband and father in law were hacked to death. Her mother in law was beaten senselessly and now admitted in Hospital at Webuye.
(6) Anne nafula 15 years old
Has 2 other very little brothers, wafula 12 years and simiyu 10 years. Their father and mother were killed and were able to hang on their neighbor to a police camp and later evacuated to the show ground refugee camp.
(7) wamukota 56 year old man
His son was shot with arrows, His father 78 years old butchered to death, His wife beaten senselessly and now admitted in hospital, His cows and shop looted. at Torbu.
(8) stephen masika 14 year old and Onesmus Makokha 11 years are brothers who are both in Class 6. They don't know whether their parents are life or dead.
(9) Rosemary Mabonga
Her husband was killed using Machetes, Mother in law beaten by machete and recovering. She has 2 little children.
(10) Rose Wafula
She has 6 children and her husband was killed.
My Observations and Comments:
We have a very high risk of street Children increasing due to children that have lost their parents and have nowhere to go.
We have a very high risk of having so many Orphans as children have and continue to lose both parents in these clashes.
There is a very high risk of prostitution since life has become hard for young girls and mothers who have been left homeless without anything and have no means of survival.
There is going to be a high risk of robbery because of the many young people who have also been left homeless and without and have no means of survival/ employment. We will need to begin preparations now to help a few that we can either in absorbing them in Orphanages as well as beginning a training center/ feeding center for them in order to train them in skills.
Even as Koffi Annan continues to broker peace through mediation, Its going to be so hard for all these people to go back to their homes as they fear, the same people who killed their loved ones and destroyed their properties are still in there neighbourhood. Prayer and support for foodstuffs continues to be needed until such time that they will go back.

Four Worthwhile Africa Projects:
Project #1-$3,600,000-For 300 Orphanage/Church/Water Well compounds, beginning at Kittui, Kenya. I am told we will have to drill 600 wells to develop 300 producing wells. This money will purchase drilling equipment and a large truck to carry it in. We have already completed a geological survey at the Kittui site.
Project #2-$5,000-Two, 250 person event tents-cost $2,500 each. I have already visited the tent manufacturer in Nairobi. We need this tent for holding bigger outreach events in Kenya.
Project #3-$7,500-We need to purchase a sound system for use in Kenya. We anticipate holding bigger events, and we will need a more powerful system. With the sound system, we need a generator to power it.
Project #4-$10,000-A truck for David Machimbo Walukhu, my missions coordinator, in Kenya. Right now, David has no vehicle, and travels by bus. THIS IS AN IMPORTANT ITEM.
