Open-Ended Question
The AP English Open-Ended Literature question is your chance to shine. Here you get the chance to show your writing skills and creativity while you answer the question using books you have read during the year. Don't be afraid to go out on a limb with your choice of books or analysis, just don't take it too far.
Choose a complex and important character in a novel or a play of recognized literary merit who might -- on the basis of the characterís actions alone -- be considered evil or immoral. In a well-organized essay, explain both how and why the full presentation of the character in the work makes us react more sympathetically than we otherwise might. Avoid plot summary.
