1. Find yourself a long black dress (£30).
2a. Either wear a white shirt underneath the dress with a black cardigan over the top or...
2b. Sew collars and cuffs onto the dress, nicked from a white shirt.
3. Grab a cloth for cleaning people with.
OVERDRESS

YOU NEED: Brown patterned material.... white trim
The overdress is a very close copy of the one from the original American Gothic painting. (Thanks to Ashford Wyrd for this information.) It is knee length, a brown colour, with a pink and blue flower pattern. There is a yellow embroidery within the pink flower heads. so...
1. Find the material (£4) in your store. You choose - as close as you like, or create your own interpretation.
2. Create a loose cocoon around a you-sized person of the material. mark in where the arm holes should be and the neck line. For easy access, leave it open at the back. Then cut out the arm holes and neck line.
3. Add the trimming (£1) around all edges (except the back - no-one should see this really).
Close the back in any way you see fit.
BLACK SHOES
Overall cost: £5
YOU NEED: Shoes
Bit of a no brainer this one - you don't really get to see the shoes in the film, so I would just wear *any* pair of black shoes underneath.
