Maggie & Max
This site my is about our little Rottweilers
named Maggie and Max. We adopted Maggie in August of 2003 from
Recycled Rotts, Inc. She was rescued from the Chicago dog
pound. Maggie now has her Forever Home in the north suburbs of
Chicago. She was only 57 pounds at about age 2 when we adopted
her, tiny by Rottweiler standards. Today, she tips
the scales around 85 pounds; her full adult weight. Many people
still
mistake her for a puppy. What she lacks in size, she makes
up in personality. Visit Maggie's Page to see some amusing
pictures of her. Max's story is remarkably similar.
He was rescued by Recycled Rotts from the same pound that Maggie came
from. He was pretty sick the first few days but Maggie
nursed him back to health. Max joined our family in June of 2004
at the ripe old age of 6 months.

Showing and
Competition
|
These are some of our favorite sites for Rottweiler lovers.
|
If you have a purebred Rottweiler
but you don't have it AKC registered as such, you can still
compete in several AKC sanctioned competitions. You first
need to obtain an
Indefinite
Listing Privilege (ILP). You can then compete in
Agility, Herding, Obedience, Tracking and Junior Showmanship.
Only AKC registered purebreds may compete in Conformation
Events.

Buying a Rottweiler

If you are looking for a Rottie
for a home pet, the best place to start looking is your local
animal shelter and Rottweiler rescues. All the rescues
have done some preliminary temperment testing to help you find a
nice dog. Second, search for a reputable breeder.
Check with Rottweiler clubs in your area or go to dog shows to
obtain recommendations. At ALL costs, do NOT
purchase a dog from a Pet store or so called Back Yard Breeders.
That only perpetuates the problems of puppy mills and poorly
bred Rottweilers. |
