Activities at the Nature Center
On September 28-30, Boy Scouts from Troop 1721 enjoyed a weekend of camping and activities on Grosse Ile. On Friday evening they set up camp around the pond at Centennial Farm. On Saturday morning after a hearty breakfast, the Scouts packed their gear and hiked to the Grosse Ile Nature area. They were greeted by Margarete Hasserodt who served as their guide for the day of activities. Activities at the Nature Area included a nature hike around the meadow, bagel launching into the American Lotus beds, an introduction to the Fire Council Ring during lunch, and, later, kayaking and canoeing. After a brisk hike back to the Centennial Farm, the Scouts enjoyed field games, a hot meal, and campfire. The next morning, Scouts awoke to a bright sunrise and packed up for their return home. The Boy
Scouts of Troop 1721 had a great time and would like to extend a sincere
thank you to the Grosse Ile Recreation Association and the Grosse Ile
Nature and Land Conservancy for the use of their facilities.
