If you have noticed while you've walked, you can see pictures of different kinds of Anicent Rome's archtitectural styles. The Archtiectural styles during the Roman Empire is similar to that of the classical Greek. Unlike the Greeks, in Roman architecture each different part carries its own siginificance. The "Roman Styles" became known from the first through the fourth centures C.E. Characteristics of this style can be seen through the "arches" as a structral element. If you keep on looking, you'll come upon the "Colosseum." It is one of the best-known of the Roman buildings. This type of building is called an amphitheatre, which means that it consists of two semicircular theatres combined, while facing each other, to form an arena surrounding an oval interior space. It was use as a theater, battles for the gladiators, and so forth. Also, shown below is the "Arch of Titus." This buidling emphasizes, onces again, the Roman classical style of the arches. Another characteristic of the Roman architecure is that of the "engaged cloumns." Unlike the Greeks, the Roman's cloumns were bulit partly embedded in the wall. This gives them a very different and mysterious atmosphere than that of other temples of its time.
