Osteopathy is a gentle and effective treatment for all of You

What is Osteopathy

What Is Osteopathy?

Osteopathy is an established, recognised system of diagnosis and treatment that lays its main emphasis on the structural integrity of the body. It is distinctive in the fact that it recognises much of the pain and disability we suffer stems from the abnormalities in the function of the body structure as well as damage caused to it by disease.
Osteopathy uses many of the diagnostic procedures used in conventional medical assessment and diagnosis. Its main strength, however, lies in the unique way the patient is assessed from a mechanical, functional and postural standpoint and the manual methods of treatment applied to suit the needs of the individual patient.

Visiting an Osteopath
On your first visit I will ask you a series of questions about your present complaint, your general health and any relevant medical history.
For the purposes of osteopathic examination, you will normally be asked to remove some of your clothes and to carry out a series of simple movements in order to assess joint function. I may use very gentle pressure to identify areas of discomfort or weakness in the body, and may also recommend additional investigations such as blood tests, X-rays or scans.
Following a full evaluation and diagnosis of your condition, your proposed plan of treatment will be discussed with you, and if appropriate treatment will commence during your first appointment in order to give you some relief of pain or other symptoms.
