            This report was desiged to help students in operating the HP 5004 Signature Analyzer in the lab or in future working field. The Signature Analyzer (SA) can be very effective in troubleshooting microprocessor systems. SA is an easy to use and highly accurate technique for indentifying faulty logic nodes. The SA can convert the long, complex serial data streams present on microprocessor system logic node into four digits "signatures". These signatures tell whether or not the node is acting properly. This is done by comparing the SA signatures of a specified node to the documented signatures provided by the product service manual.
