Needle retention is very good as long as the tree is well-watered. To prevent premature drying of your tree, keep it outdoors, standing in a container of water, until your ready to decorate. Before bringing the tree indoors, make a fresh cut about ½" off the base of the trunk. Place the tree in a sturdy stand which will hold water, and check the water level daily, adding fresh water as needed. Do not let the water level get to low, the base of the trunk should always be submerged and not allowed to dry. Place your tree away from fireplaces, radiators, heat vents and other heat sources.
