Solomon Greyhawk

DESCRIPTION

A palpable evil emanates from this youthful man, chilling those near him,and unsettling the most steel-nerved men.His black silk robes are covered in silver embroidered runes of power that seem to shift before your eyes, even when he does not move.Hair the color of polished silver streams down the front of his robes, finding escape from beneath the silk cowl covering his head.Burnished bronze skin can be seen on his hands, and the rarely seen face. Those who have looked into Solomon's eyes find only evil therein, manifested in his pupils shaped as skulls. He leans on a gnarled staff, topped with a crystal held in a miniature dragon's claw, though he seems healthy enough to not need such aid.

BACKGROUND

Solomon was born the third of twelve brothers,to a farmer and his wife whose names are lost to all but him,and he does not speak of them. His childhood was what most would call idyllic, spent in the happy pursuits of a content child. His ability to wield magic was apparent on his seventh birthday, when in blowing out candles on his cake, his family were surprised to see that the flames shot out far enough to lick the draperies six feet away. The next day,Solomon was fostered to Arelios,a Red Robed Wizard who lived in the vicinity.Solomon spent thirteen long years apprenticed to Arelios, learning a few spells, cleaning many floors, and subject to the book tossing rages the Red Robed Wizard seemed to suffer from with increasing frequency each passing year.Arelios terminated Solomon's apprenticeship on his twentieth birthday, and sent him away with a spellbook, and a few gold coins,to start his career elsewhere.

Solomon travelled to the town of Solace,as he was told that the Tower of Wayreth was somewhere nearby, and he desperately wanted to take his Test to become a member of the Orders of Magic. His timing could not have been worse,as the red Dragonarmy was in the midst of their assault upon Solace,as Solomon crested the last hill before reaching the town.He watched helplessly,as the townsfolk were slaughtered,or captured and put into large cage-wagons.Solomon hid in some brush, until night came, and the draconians seemed overly confidant in their perimeter security.Entering town as quiet as a ghost,he made it to one of the cage-wagons without being detected. Here he met Darkynia,a female Qualinesti warrior, captured as she tried to help some local children escape earlier in the evening.Solomon freed Darkynia, and the others in that cage-wagon,then followed the elf maiden into the forest. Thus began a companionship that would last through the majority of the 3rd Dragonwar.

Solomon, and Darkynia, were counted among the Heroes of the Lance, until they met the ancient black wyrm Scathach whilst executing a covert operation in Sanction. The following battle was quickly going against Solomon and his comrades, and a retreat was deemed necessary. All escaped, save for Solomon himself, who had fallen to a holding spell cast by the dragon.Anticipating a slow death at the wyrm's claws,Solomon was surprised to find that the dragon instead chose to converse with him.Scathach admired Solomon's magical abilities, and told him of an item in the dragon's possession that he may find very useful. This item, and Solomon's freedom, must come at a price, said the dragon.

What exactly transpired that day between Solomon, and Scathach, none other will ever know,as both the wizard and the dragon keep very tight lipped about it.Solomon yet lives, though his robes have been black for almost sixty-two years now,and the black wyrm Scathach serves as the leader of the Black Dragonarmy's wing of black dragons. It is rumoured that the item given Solomon by the dragon was none other than a greater Orb of Dragonkind.Though none can say with certainty that the wizard possesses any such item, his control over the dragons in his army supports such a tale.
