A former, er, what the hell was it? It's on Forest near Chene. CHRISTO1 sent me an E-Mail "Dom Polski, Forest and Chene, Joseph G. Kastler architect; built in 1913. Primary meeting and social hall of Detroit Polonia". Thanx CHRISTO.
Was this a church? Nope, it's a hall!
Joseph Gwizdowski wrote: Hello Greg: I was able to locate a pic of the West Side Dom Polski at 3426 Junction. It is currently receiveing the preservation efforts of Laurie Gomulka. The building was designed by my grandfather - Joseph J. Gwizdowski in 1916, and the building was finished in 1917 at a cost of $50,000. I thought the attached photo would make a nice addition to your Hamtramck photos. Thanks again for your great web site! Best Regards, Joe.
The West Side ROCKS!!
