I was born in Detroit and now live in the Detroit enclave, Hamtramck, a city completely surrounded by Detroit, near the heart of the bustling shopping district. This is the 2nd time I've bounced back to Hamtramck. I've also lived in and owned homes in Detroit, Birmingham, W. Bloomfield, Royal Oak, Ferndale and Warren. I tried rehabbing two different houses in Detroit's infamous Empowerment Zone, only to have the City of Detroit mistakenly bulldoze both of them. I exclusively created and maintain the detroitpix website. I put up this site hoping it will improve the City of Detroit. Has it helped? I think so. Detroit is currently experiencing a definite upswing...My mission here is to document the buildings of Detroit and stir interest in the City.
