Andrew James Tierney was born in June 1974 to parents Wendy and John Tierney in Sydney Australia.
His love for singing began in his primary school years when he joined the Tower Street Primary School choir. He had his first taste of the spotlight there - having the opportunity to sing on stage with Rolf Harris at the Sydney Entertainment Center.

In 1986 Andrew graduated to secondary school, attending Hurlstone Agricultural College as a day student [it was a boarding school]. Further pursuing his love for music, he went against the 'in crowd' and joined the school choir as, then, one of the only three males in the choir - with his friends Toby and Phil.

The school was, and still is, highly focused on it's sporting achievements [Rugby] and as a result singing was not prasied. Although he lost his self-confidence and was not popular at school Andrew was not going to stop singing.

He bacame a contestant on 'Star Search' but unfortunately lost. He also performed in several School Spectaculars.

In 1989 [Year 10] he rallied friends Toby and Phil and brother Michael [then in Year 7 and also in the choir] and announced that he was going to arrange a song for the four to perform at the school's end of year concert. The song was 50's hit 'Eath Angel' [which he'd heard on 'Back to the Future']. The arrangement and performance were a success and the boys decided to make singing together a full-time thing.

They formed a group and called themselves 'The 4Trax' and went on to play in clubs, RSL's and various other 'dingy' venues. They became renowned in the club scene and collected three prestigious 'Mo' awards in the early 90's for 'Excellence in Live Performance'.

In 1993 Andrew graduated from Hurlstone and enrolled at Uni to study Physiotherapy. It was shortlived - he dropped out in 1994 to pursue his musical career full-time. Friends Toby and Phil also dropped out of Uni for the same reason while Andrew's brother Micheal was just finishing his HSC to join the boys in the group.

They decided on a name change and decided on Michael's suggestion of 'Human Nature' [other ideas being 'Crush' and 'Farenheight'].

In 1996 the boys, while trying to get a record deal, decided to impress and insisted on singing live in front of Sony Music CEO Dennis Handlin. They sang the a capella track 'People Get Ready' and Handlin was so impressed, he offered them a recording contract on the spot.

The rest, as they say, is history ...

Human Nature's first album Telling Everybody was released in December 1996 and stayed in the Australian Top 50 for over 18 months - it became the most successful Australian Debut Album ever.

In 1998 the band, then on to their 2nd album, picked up their 4th Mo Awards, this time as 'Artist Of The Year'.

In 2001 Human Nature have release a third self-titled album - funkier than it's predacessors. And are on their way to conquering the world.
