Beer Review: Redhook Blackhook Porter
Dark in color, with a nice off-white head, this porter had a medium body. The first porter I had tried in a while, my first taste was almost all foam (leaving me to wonder if said foam would ever go down...). Finally getting to the beer itself, I found it to taste rather similar to the Redhook Nut Brown Ale I had just finished. Not to be deterred, I continued, experiencing the hints of roastedness that began to appear in this brew. Not a whole lot else jumped out at me -- a good beer, yes, but what else to say? I'll add that while there was definitely some roastedness in the flavor, there was not nearly as much as I had earlier experienced in the Gettysbrew Black Knight barleywine. Still, a good beer, and one that will move me to try other porters. -- Brewmeister G
