The roadbed comes up the mountain from Colebrook to the south of Rt. 44, and used to pass under it in a now filled in tunnel. The Town of Norfolk recognizes its railroad heritage, and has preserved the western railing of this bridge along the side of the road:

There is a slight, smothed out grade down to the station on the other side of this. The Norfolk Library has a playground here; on the roadbed is a wooden engine for kids to play on! The trains used to pass on the right side of Norfolk Station; an addition obscures where the platform and track would have been:

Otherwise, the station is in immaculate shape. After Norfolk, the CNE passed to the north of Haystack Mountain (thanks, Phil) en route to it's most famous architectual feature: the Whiting Viaduct
