The former Rutgers quarterback Mike McMahon, is one of the most exciting prospects in the upcoming NFL Draft. Scouting reports indicate that the 6-foot-2, 215-pound McMahon has good size, is very quick (4.7 in the 40-yard dash) and possesses very good arm strength. Reports say the Pittsburgh native has a quick release and is able to move around the pocket effectively. Fastest quarterback at the 2001 Combine(4.57).
McMahon is slated to back up Joey Harrington this year. A talented young passer with good experience, he may be auditioning in the preseason for a chance to play else where. A great athlete who is Very competitive. Likes to improvise. Has a live arm and can make throws on the run. Also had the best vertical jump (37 ½"), broad jump (10'4") & 20-yard shuttle (4.12) of all quarterbacks at the Combine that year. Selected in the 5th round by the Detroit Lions in 2001 .Has the tendency to hold the ball and run around forever. Has poor technique in the pocket and may not be a good pocket passer. Has never played for a winning program.
