Acclaim announced today that they've snatched up the international publishing rights for Tecmo's upcoming 3D fighter extaordinare Dead Or Alive 2. The agreement gives Acclaim the rights to publish the game everywhere outside of America, Japan, and South East Asia.
Even without rights to the two most video game-savvy markets in the world, this is no small deal for Acclaim. As you probably know, Dead Or Alive 2 is one of the most anticipated fighters to come along in some time, and perhaps one of the most anticipated upcoming Dreamcast titles currently in existance. This, coupled with Acclaim's pull in most territories is sure to net them a very lucrative profit margin. AKA, they soon be making them sweet clams hand over fist.
"We are very pleased to have signed this agreement with Acclaim," commented Isamu Fukada for Tecmo in Japan. "We are confident that the strength of Dead or Alive 2 coupled with Acclaim's expertise and experience in these territories will prove a potent partnership for our success."

With Tecmo refusing to confirm nor deny the status of Dead or Alive 2 on the Dreamcast in Japan, the inevitable rumors have already started up on the Japanese message boards and Japanese news sites. The current rumor points to Dead or Alive 2 being released on the Dreamcast in Japan in May, two months after the game's confirmed US release of March 10. Of course, this date would put the game on the market after its proposed PlayStation 2 release, but it looks like you can't have everything, not even in rumour land.
This information hasn't been confirmed by Tecmo, so treat it just as a rumor. We expect the official word to surface shortly.
