The Admissions Committee at Yale University School of Medicine seeks to accept students who seem to be best suited for the educational programs and aims of the School.  The Committee also considers personal qualities.  These qualities include:


  • Integrity,

  • Common sense,

  • Personal stability,

  • Dedication to the ideal of service, and

  • The ability to inspire and maintain confidence.

Prospective students must complete three years of undergraduate coursework at an accredited institution.  The following courses must be complete before acceptance:


  • One Year of Inorganic Chemistry (with lab)

  • One Year of Organic Chemistry (with lab)

  • One Year of Biology or Zoology (with lab)

  • One Year of Physics (with lab)

The Admissions Committee has no preference as to what college major you receive.  The MCAT is required for acceptance into Yale University School of Medicine.
