Stanford University looks for applicants that show a strong humanitarian commitment and have shown originality, creativity, and a capacity for independent, critical thinking in their past accomplishments.


The minimum course requirements for the Stanford School of Medicine are as follows:


  • One Year of Inorganic Chemistry (with lab)

  • One Year of Organic Chemistry (with lab)

  • One Year of Biology (with lab)

  • One Year of Physics (with lab)

It is strongly recommended that the applicant have knowledge in a modern foreign language especially Spanish or an Asian language. Coursework in behavioral sciences, calculus, physical chemistry, and biochemistry, are also strongly recommended. 


The MCAT is required for an application to be processed.  An application will NOT be processed until the Admissions Office has received MCAT scores for the applicant.
