The applicant is judged on the basis of several criteria, among them intelligence, preparedness, motivation, and aptitude, for selection into the New York University School of Medicine.  A candidate's excellence in coursework at the college level is also taken into account.

The minimum course requirements for admission into New York are:

  • Six Semester Hours of English (two years recommended)

  • Six Semester Hours of Inorganic Chemistry (with lab)

  • Six Semester Hours of Organic Chemistry (with lab)

  • Six Semester Hours of General Physics (with lab)

  • Six Semester Hours of General Biology or Zoology (with lab)

If two types of a class are offered it is highly recommended that the applicant take the more rigorous class.  The MCAT is required for application.
