Mumtaz - The Greatest and Most Beautiful Actress

For her comeback, I feel, she erred in not planning it properly. I think she should have bargained for a more powerful role and story with established cast than absolutely fresh newcomers, and not the least, should have given the same touch of class of her acting prowess, as before. I feel that the role was too melodramatic with too many overtones. Maybe her fans could not accept their dream girl in a highly strung motherly role. I wonder whether she was really keen for a comeback at all! But I, definitely, am very keen to see her back on the screen with newer and more challenging roles. At least it would be a very nice if we can see her on the TV screen!

I think it is all the more pertinent to think of her comeback, in the light of what she herself has said, "Vanraj Bhatia says women over 40 are like excess baggage and no one wants them, not even their husbands! Only an Indian man can say this, for it is typical Indian mentality - wanting to put the women down. I think that a woman at 40 is the real thing. At 20 and 30 what a woman is - just a baby! It is at 40, that added to sex-appeal there is knowledge, intelligence, experience; it makes her hundred times more attractive. I've never felt more beautiful or desirable in my life before." And yes, she stole all the hearts when she appeared on the stage to receive her award in the Filmfare Award function.

When we go to see her movies again and again, don't we offer our reverence to her, worshipping her. But like the example in South, I would like to see a temple dedicated to Mumtaz. I wonder if some of her enterprising fans would oblige. I feel that it would have been easier a couple of decades back, but better late than never. Finally, if her personal life permits, everybody wishes for her come back to the film world!

In conclusion, few befitting words are that Meenakumaris and Madhubalas will come and go, but another Mumtaz will never come. And there is no doubt that Mumtaz is the best thing that ever happened to Hindi films.
