Chapter 21

During their conversation in the back of the Church, it had slipped both Belle and Shawn’s mind that they had scheduled to have the pictures taken after the ceremony. Now the entire wedding party had spent the past 45 minutes posing for pictures. Belle and Shawn were finding it extremely hard to mask their pent-up sexual desire, especially knowing that once they reached the reception, it would probably be hours before they were able to be alone. Shawn had jokingly whispered to Belle that he wondered if the rest of the bridal party would mind letting them have the limo to themselves on the way to the reception. The others could take a cab and then they would have the time alone that they desired before reaching the reception. Belle had playfully hit Shawn (which the photographer captured, promising it to be a wonderful picture) but, as the pictures seem to take longer and longer, Belle found herself considering Shawn’s idea. As Belle was debating which was harder – the first night they spent alone after their weekend at the cabin or the ache she was experiencing now for Shawn to touch her in all the right places especially knowing that it would most likely be several hours before her needs would be able to be met – when the photographer announced that the pictures were finished for now and they could head to the reception. As the group was gathering up the rest of their belongings, Philip pulled Shawn aside.

"Chloe and I brought my car over earlier today. That way you two could have the limo ride to yourselves. You know, maybe then you can do something about those glances you been giving each other the entire time the pictures were being taken. Take it from your Uncle Phil, bro, if you arrive at the reception doing the same thing, everyone there is going to know that all your really thinking about is getting Belle into bed." Shawn laughed at Philip’s bluntness.

"Thanks, man. It’s that obvious, huh?"

"Yeah, I would say get a room but then I’d have to explain why the bride and groom never showed up at their own wedding reception." Shawn and Philip shook hands, using a handshake that they had made up when they were young and trying to act cool.

"What are you guys whispering about over here?" Belle asked as she came up and wrapped her arms around Shawn’s middle.

"Nothing…you guys ready to head out?" Philip asked as he pulled his keys out of his pocket. "Enjoy your ride you two…and don’t make us wait to long at the reception." Belle looked at Philip as he and the rest of the bridal party headed out of the church.

"Aren’t they riding with us?" Belle asked confused.

"Nope," Shawn said as he bent down and nibbled at Belle’s neck. "My boy Phil thought ahead as usual. The others are all riding to the reception with him so that we can have some time alone." Belle squealed with excitement as Shawn, wasting no time, picked up his wife and left the church.

Part 22 ~~ PG –17

"Philip are you sure that they left only a few minutes after you did?" Hope asked as she glanced out the window looking for any sign of the limo. "That was over half an hour ago, they should have been here by now." Philip shifted uncomfortably in his seat on the couch as he looked over at Brady, who just smiled and shrugged – Philip was on his own for this one.

Meanwhile…

"Shawn," Belle giggled as his fingers began to work his way under her dress. "If you’re not careful, you’re going to rip this right off me!" Shawn ignored what she had just said and continued to search for the zipper on her dress.

"Found it!" he said triumphantly, as he worked the zipper down. Before she realized it, Shawn had worked the dress down over her hips, leaving her feeling very exposed and vulnerable. Shawn slowly began to rub his fingers higher and higher up her thigh until he reached his intend destination. Belle moaned in response.

"I guess you changed your mind about heading straight to the reception, huh?" Belle couldn’t answer – she could only think about how he was making her feel. She pulled him on top of her, trying to convey her enthusiasm with a kiss fueled by almost an animal-like passion. Her fingers began to work unhooking button of his pants – she was craving more. At the same time, Shawn was fumbling with the buttons of his shirt. Finally though he couldn’t take it any longer as he tore the shirt from his body, not realizing that he lost a few buttons in the process. Neither felt the needs for words as he worked the final pieces of clothing from both of their bodies. The two’s lips met in yet another passionate kiss as their bodies joined as one, the reception the farthest from either of their minds.

Back at the reception, Hope and Marlena were peered out the front door, still on watch for the limo while Bo and John stood nearby discussing whether or not they should go out looking for them. Philip and the rest of the bridal party also moved about the room, hoping that Shawn and Belle would appear soon.

"Remind me to kill Shawn when he gets here," Philip whispered to Chloe who was sitting next to him. Chloe swatted him playfully.

"Oh stop. You know he’d be in the same situation, if that was us in that limo," Chloe looked up, startled at what she had just said. Philip smiled as he admired her blushing face. He reached up, caressing her face with his fingers.

"Your right, he would be." Chloe smiled. The two inched forward and just as their lips were about to meet, they were interrupted by the sound of Shawn’s voice.

"Looking for us?" he asked as the two walked through the kitchen door, hand in hand. Shawn reached up and brushed his hair from his face, while trying to hide the silly grin that was on his face at the same time.

"Shawn," Hope cried as she turned around. "Belle, your okay."

"Of course we are Mom," Shawn replied. "We just got hung up in traffic, that’s all."

"Bullshit," Brady coughed from the couch. Belle glared at her brother, wishing that was as clueless as to their whereabouts as much as their parents were.

"Well, were just glad that your okay," Bo said he walked towards the newlyweds. Shawn saw is mother staring at his shirt. He had told Belle as they were getting dressed that he bet that she would immediately notice that a button was gone. He inched his arm in front of where the missing button was in hopes that his mother would not notice.

"Honey, is something wrong with your shirt?" Hope asked as she joined Bo. "It looks like its missing a button or something." Shawn glanced at Belle, embarrassed, while Philip and Brady erupted in laughter.

"I guess Shawn boy got a little too excited," Brady said in a staged whisper. The adults exchanged knowing glances, instantly realizing why their appearance had been delayed. Brady and Philip patted Shawn on the back as they walked past him.

"Thanks a lot you two. Why didn’t you just come right out and say what we were doing…" he whispered.

"Hey man you deserve it. You didn’t see the way Philip was squirming every time your parents asked where you two were," Brady replied, finding the situation quite amusing.

"Come on," John said grabbing Brady as he walked by. "Stop giving your sister and her husband a hard time." Belle’s smile lit up at the sound of that. Her husband – she still found it hard to believe that Shawn was really her husband.

"We’ll be out in a minute you guys," Shawn said as their parents left the room.

"You better be Shawn-Douglas," Hope answered, waving her finger at him, the smile never leaving her face. "I don’t want to have to do any more explaining to the guests as to why you’ve been delayed." Shawn looked over at Belle, a smile playing on both of their faces.

"I have a feeling that it’s going to be awhile before we live this one down," Shawn said just before planting a kiss on Belle’s lips. They couldn’t help but allow the kiss to continue until…

"That’s enough you two, come on!" Belle and Shawn pulled apart, glazing into one another’s eyes. Belle nodded and glanced in a nearby mirror – she still looked put together for the most part – a few wrinkles in her dress and Shawn’s missing button were the only evidence of their time in the limo.

"Let’s go," Shawn said taking her hand in his. "We have a party waiting for us."

Part 23

The fragrance of flowers floated in the air as John, Marlena, Bo and Hope stood inside the tent, trying to get everyone’s attention. "We better hurry up," Hope whispered to Marlena. "Or knowing those two, they’re pull the disappearing act again." Marlena chuckled as John’s voice boomed over the crowd.

"Now if I can have everyone’s attention…before I officially present to you our guests of honor there’s something I want to say…and since I’m paying all this, I figured you all wouldn’t mind." The crowd chuckled, knowing very well that not only could John more than afford the reception, he also loved being able to give his daughter the wedding that she had always dreamed of. "Over the years, we all have seen a unique bond that Shawn and Isabella shared – it’s brought them together through all the good times and the bad. As they’ve grown older, this bond tightened and by the time they were about ten, I think everyone in this room would agree with me in saying that we all saw that these two would one day end up together – even when they didn’t see it for themselves. Out of that bond something grew and developed – a kind of love that not everyone is able to find in a lifetime. And although it was the tragedy surrounding what happened at the coronation that ultimately brought them together, I am thankful that these two finally realized what they were missing out on before it was too late. I know that these two are young, but there is no doubt in my mind that their love will allow them to overcome whatever fate has in store for them." John stopped as the crowd applauded. Once the clapping had died down, he continued.

"And now," John’s voice no longer baring such a serious tone, "without further adieu, may I present to you Mr. and Mrs. Shawn-Douglas Brady." The guests clapped and cheered loudly as Belle and Shawn entered the room. Marlena and Hope both had tears in their eyes as they watched their children.

"I don’t think that I’ve ever seen them happier," Marlena said to know one in particular. Her sweet little girl was now a married woman – she marveled at how fast they seem to grow up.

"I know," Hope whispered, thinking the same thing. "Doesn’t it seem like it was only yesterday that they were playing side by in the sandbox at the park – and now their married and starting a family of their own. It’s all so unbelievable."

"It’s about time you two got here, lad" Grandpa Shawn called out from the back of the room. "We were beginning to think that you weren’t going to show." Everyone laughed in agreement as both Shawn and Belle’s faces turned crimson red.

"Okay, okay," Shawn said holding up one hand in defeat while hanging his head. "The important thing is though that we made it, right?"

"Yeah, Pop, gives these two a break," Roman said placing his hands on Shawn’s shoulders. "Don’t you remember what it’s like to be young and in love." With that said, everyone’s focused moved from the embarrassed couple to the music that began to play. Several couples moved out onto the dance floor.

"May I have this dance my lady," Shawn asked as he bowed to his bride. Belle giggled and nodded, instantly thinking back to the ice-skating dance that the two shared at Bo and Hope’s wedding. Belle took Shawn’s hand as he began to twirl her around the room.

"What are you thinking about?" Shawn asked as he noticed the far away look in Belle’s eyes.

"Oh just about your parents wedding when we shared a dance out on the ice. I mean just think of everything that’s happened since then – the whole thing in Paris with the coronation and helping Mimi recover; us finally realizing that we were fooling ourselves when we insisted that we were only friends; Chloe and Philip sleeping together and then them breaking up after finding out that Victor wasn’t dead; Chloe dating my brother and then going back to Philip; my mom being kidnapped; Jan being killed in that drunk driving accident, not to mention the whole thing with JT and Isaac, I mean the list could go on and on."

"Your right it could. But that’s all behind us now…we need to look towards our future. Before we know it, that little baby in there is going to be born and we’re going to have a whole new set of responsibilities to deal with."

"I know Shawn. I just hope that we can live up to them."

"We will," Shawn answered as he pulled her close. "Together."

Part 24

"If I didn’t know better, I’d say almost all of Salem was here tonight," Belle whispered to Shawn as the two moved about the room, speaking to their guests.

"I didn’t know we knew half of these people," Shawn whispered back. Belles laughed knowing that most of the people there were friends of her parents’ or of Shawn’s parents. The two headed over towards Mike and Carrie who were talking to not only Austin and Greta but also Sami and Brandon (who was holding Will). "That’s a surprising group."

"I know. That’s why I thought that it would be good to go over and talk to them now before they start yelling at each other." Shawn smiled.

"Hi everybody!"

"Belle, Shawn" Sami exclaimed, glad for the interruption. Brandon put Will down, allowing him to go play with Abby. "Congratulations!"

"Thanks" Shawn said as he placed his arm around Belle. "We’re glad you could all make it, especially you Mike and Carrie."

"You didn’t really think that I could miss out on my little sister’s wedding," Carrie said as she snuggled closer to her husband. "Even if it did mean flying half way around the world!"

Sami crossed her arms over her chest and stared at Carrie. Technically, Carrie and Belle were not sisters. "Sami," Brandon whispered as he put his arm around his girlfriend trying to discourage a confrontation. He knew that Sami hadn’t been happy with Carrie ever since earlier in the evening when she commented about how happy Austin and Greta looked together. It was not that Brandon doubted Sami’s feelings for him, he just knew that deep down inside Sami still had a hard time accepting that Austin had actually chosen Greta over her. Sami leaned against Brandon hoping to show Austin that she was as happy as he was. Belle felt as though the tension surrounding the group could be cut with a knife.

"Well, if you’ll excuse us," Shawn said also feeling the tension in the air. "I think I’d like to share another dance with my wife." Shawn took Belle’s hand and led her out on the dance floor.

"Thank you," Belle sighed with relief. "The tension was starting to get to me."

"I could tell." Shawn pulled Belle closer as the beginning of a slow song came on. Belle laid her head on Shawn’s shoulder.

"Are you happy?" he whispered into her hair.

"How could I not be?" Belle answered. She snuggled closer to Shawn. "Today’s the best day of my life. But are you happy?" Shawn placed his lips on Belle’s causing her knees to go weak. He pulled away and looked into her eyes. "What do you think?" Belle just smiled and pulled Shawn in for another kiss.

"Its hard to believe that its all over," Belle said as she glanced around at the empty tent. Most of the guests had left hours earlier and now the only ones that were left were the family members that had offered to help clean up the mess that was left.

"Why don’t you two go ahead and get out of here?" Hope said as she walked up to the two. "We have this under control."

"Are you sure Mom?" Shawn asked as he glanced around and noticed all that was still left to be done.

"Yes, Shawn I’m positive. Go enjoy your wedding night." Both Shawn and Belle blushed.

"Well," Shawn answered as he looked over to Belle. "I’m sure Belle’s tired and with the baby and everything…"

"Go ahead and get out of here," Hope said hugging him and then her quickly.

"Thanks again for everything. Today was so beautiful."

"You’re welcome honey." Belle hugged Hope one last time before she took Shawn’s hand and set off to look for everyone else so that they could say goodbye.

Salem in July always seemed humid, but as Belle was convinced that the heat this year was the worst yet. The annual Fourth of July picnic was in full swing. Since this was the first time everyone was together since their wedding, Belle and Shawn had decided that at some point during the day they would go ahead and tell everyone about the baby. They knew that waiting much longer was not an option due to Belle’s petite frame. Because they were going to make this big announcement, Hope suggested that they invite Philip, Chloe, Jason and Mimi so that they could be there as well.

As the heat began to take its toll on her, Belle held her glass of lemonade up to her forehead. She closed her eyes, trying to gain some relief from the cool glass. Out of the corner of his eye, Shawn saw her do this. He excused himself away from his conversation with Philip and made his way over to his wife.

"Belle, honey, are you okay?" Shawn asked as he crouched down next to the chair that she was sitting in. "Maybe we should get you inside so you could cool down some." Belle smiled, trying to reassure not only herself but her husband as well that she was all right.

"I’m fine," Belle replied, placing her hand over his. "Is just a little hot out, that’s all."

"Honey, I agree with Shawn. Being overheated right now is not good for you." Marlena said. She and Hope had standing nearby when they heard Shawn ask Belle if she was ok. When both women glanced over in their direction, they could instantly tell that Belle was not well. Hope reached out to help Belle up from where she was sitting. As Belle stood she noticed that she felt somewhat lightheaded and before she realized it, she fainted into Shawn’s arms.

Part 25

Marlena gasped as she watched Belle crumble in Shawn’s arms. John heard this and glanced over to see what was wrong.

"Isabella," he cried, rushing over to where they were standing. Shawn took his wife into his arms.

"We have to get her inside and cool her down," Hope said moving to try to clear a path. John and Marlena jogged behind Shawn as began to carry Belle back towards the house. Sami and Brandon had been standing nearby and moved to help clear a path so that they could get through.

"What’s wrong?" Bo asked as they came rushing into the room. He had just finished changing JT and was on his way out when he heard the commotion. Shawn didn’t answer as he rushed by and gently laid Belle on the couch.

"Isabella fainted," John explained as Marlena and Hope went to the kitchen to wet a few washcloths to help cool Belle down.

Outside, the guests weren’t sure what had just happened. They knew Belle had fainted, but really had no idea why.

"Well," Mimi said to the group that had gathered, waiting to find out what was going on. "Being out in this kind of heat isn’t good for anyone yet alone someone who’s pregnant." The group all looked at Mimi stunned. "Oops," Mimi said as she observed all the shocked faces. "Sorry, I guess that I just assumed that you all knew by now." Philip shook his head in disgust.

"I can’t believe you," he whispered loudly. "You just had to be the one to tell everyone. So much for Shawn and Belle getting to." Everyone around them seemed to be talking at once, wondering if it was really true. Just then, Bo and Hope walked out and joined the group.

"Marlena says that Belle’s going to be okay. She just needs to rest awhile, but I’m sure she’ll be fine. I think the heat just got to her."

"But what about the baby?" Mrs. Horton asked concerned. "Maybe she should go to the hospital and get checked out." Hope looked at her grandmother questioningly. As far as she knew, the only one’s that knew about the baby were her and Bo, John and Marlena and Brady.

"It kinda slipped out," Mimi said quietly. "I figured that everyone knew by now…guess not, huh?"

"I’m sorry, Gram." Hope said turning to her grandmother. "Shawn and Belle had wanted to be the ones to tell you all their news," Hope replied, knowing that they had been looking forward to telling everyone. "But yes, Shawn and Belle are going to have a baby around Christmas."

"I better go tell Shawn," Philip said as he handed the glass that he had been holding to Chloe. "I don’t want he and Belle to be surprised when everyone starts congratulating them." Hope nodded as she watched everyone talk amongst themselves about what they had just learned. She leaned against Bo as he wrapped his arms around her middle.

"I hope Belle and Shawn aren’t too disappointed." Hope said so only her husband could hear. "Belle was just telling me earlier how she and Shawn had spent all morning talking about how they were going to tell everyone."

"It will be okay," Bo responded as he kissed the side of Hope’s head. "I know it’s not what they had planned but then again, when do things ever go the way we want them to." Hope smiled and nodded, agreeing with him.

"Life is made up of unlaid plans," she said pulling Bo’s arms tighter around her. "Otherwise, our life wouldn’t be what it is today if it wasn’t. Just think of it Brady, our lives would be pretty boring if things always went the way we wanted it to."

"Isn’t that true," Bo said laughing. "Isn’t that true."

Part 26

"Belle are you sure that we shouldn’t just go have you and the baby checked out," Shawn asked worriedly as he sat next to where Belle was lying on the couch. Belle nodded as she continued to hold onto the washcloth that was lying across her head.

"I’m sure Shawn," Belle answered. "I more embarrassed than anything. Besides my mom said that she didn’t think that a trip to the hospital was needed. With a little rest, I’ll be fine." Both Belle and Shawn looked up as Philip entered the room.

"You sure your okay Belle," Philip asked concerned. Belle nodded as she took Shawn’s hand into hers.

"I’m fine Philip. I think I’m more embarrassed than anything…I hope I didn’t ruin everything. No one guessed about the baby yet, did they?" Philip shifted uncomfortably as he stared at the floor.

"Philip?" Shawn asked questionably. He could tell by the look on his face that everyone outside knew that Belle was pregnant. "Okay, Philip spill it. Who told?"

"Who do you think?" Philip said with a chuckle. "Did you really think Mimi would let you two be the one’s to tell everybody? I wanted to tell you so that when you go back out there you weren’t taken back when everyone started congratulating you." Philip could tell by the disgusted look on their faces that neither one was happy.

"Well, look on the bright side Shawn," Belle began. "There’s still one thing that we can tell them – not even our parents’ know this one yet so there’s no doubt that we will be able to be the ones to tell everyone." A smile lit up on Shawn’s face.

"Your right. I had almost forgotten about that." Shawn looked up as a fist lightly hit his stomach. "Belle, honey, I was just kidding. You know I could never forget something that important." Shawn lowered his face to his wife’s wanting a kiss until they were interrupted.

"WHAT ARE YOU TWO TALKING ABOUT?" Philip asked frustrated. He hated to be left out of a conversation. Belle and Shawn just giggled, surprised that they had forgotten that Philip had been standing there.

"You’ll find out when everyone else does Phil," Shawn said as he helped Belle into sitting position. Belle grabbed Philip’s hand as the two walked by him.

"Philip, stop pouting," Belle said as she lead him out into the yard. "I’m sure you’ll know in just a few minutes, so don’t get your boxers all in a wad." Philip couldn’t help but laugh.

"Belle, honey, are you sure you’re okay," Hope asked as the trio re-entered the backyard. Belle nodded as she let go of Philip’s hand.

"Everybody, Belle and I have announcement to make," Shawn said as he put his arm around Belle and pulled her closer to him.

"Ah, Shawn," Mimi said guilty stepping forward. "I kinda let the cat out of the bag already." Shawn and Belle just looked at each other and smiled.

"I’m sure that you didn’t tell them everything Mimi," Shawn said as everyone began to gather around, curious as to what Shawn was talking about now. "Not even our parents know this yet, so I know this is going to be a surprise."

"What is it? Something’s not wrong, is it? Marlena asked, her motherly instinct kicking in.

"No, Mom the babies are fine," Belle answered, a large grin on her face. Everyone let out a sigh of relief. Then one by one, everyone had a puzzled expression on their face, unsure if they had heard Belle correctly. Hope was the first speak.

"Wait a minute…did you just say babies?"
