Missionary District of the West, UECNA

History
The United Episcopal Missionary District of the West was originally formed in the 1980s, but fell into abeyance in the early 1990s. However, the United Episcopal Church has been experiencing significant growth in recent years, so, on November 11th 2009, the National Council voted to revive the Missionary District of the West, and institute a new Missionary District of the Ozarks.

What is a Missionary District?
A Missionary District is basically "a diocese in formation." It serves an area where there are sufficient parishes and missions to need local administration, but the work of the church is not so advanced as to require full diocesan status. It is not, as some seem to assume, a jurisdiction consisting entirely of missions.

The Bishop
The Bishop of the Missionary District of the West is the Right Rev. Peter D. Robinson.
