Personal background: 25 years messing around with bikes as a self-taught
mechanic. Engineer by profession, earns living selling x-ray & metal
detection equipment.
Former race-engineer/designer on the fringes of major-league car racing in
UK. Knew many of todays stars when they were gangly zit-encrusted (rich)
youths.
Twice hospitalized within days of changing from an RD to a 4-cylinder
Honda. Miraculously survived a 'should have been fatal' accident in 1977
(see above), requiring 3 major heart operations to date.

I had my 1st 2stroke @
14: Yam. RS100B - top speed 68mph (I tried
everything I could with my limited resources to get
it nudge up a few more mph!). Bought my RD400G
in 1980, loved the bike at first sight. Drove it for
45,000 km over the next 7 years, and then it
became almost forgotten (marriage, kids, etc).
Resurrected it last year, now it's basically running,
but I'm planning on some modifications (mild
porting, chambers, suspension), basically want to
keep it as a strong performing street bike.

I
currently own a bone stock 1980 RD400G,which is
the same as a the Daytona. I previously owned a
completely tricked out Daytona, but it was stolen
three times, and the third time I didn't get it back. I
am ashamed to admit it :(, but I also owned a 1982
Seca 550 (4-Stoke). When I'm not tinkering with
the RD, most of my spare time is spent skydiving.
When it's too windy at the drop zone to jump, I
love doing wheelies up and down the runway.
