MEIGHAR

John Meighar/Maher immigrated to Canada in 1837 from Omagh, County Tyrone Ireland. He was the s/o Patrick and John married one Mary Sullivan here in Kings County New Brunswick 8 Oct. 1839. The family was Roman Catholic. They had the following children:

Johanna who married Hugh O’Brien

Dennis who married Margaret Elkins

Patrick who died young of scarlet fever

John who married Sarah Kelly (my great-grandparents)

Ellen/Eleanor who married Owen Prentice

Bridget who married ???? Cunningham

All of this family remained in the Kings County and Saint John area of New Brunswick Canada.
