McCarthy

James McCarthy was born circa 1822 in Bandon, County Cork Ireland. He married Margaret McCarthy (also her maiden name) who was born circa 1828 in Kilmichael, County Cork Ireland. They were married before they immigrated in 1846, possibly in Dublin. The family was Roman Catholic and if the naming tradition meant anything to them, their eldest child was a boy they named George and the second child was a girl they named Julia. The family remained in Saint John New Brunswick Canada and it appears they sailed out of Liverpool in late 1845 on a ship called the "St.Patrick" which was bound for New York but landed in Saint John in 1846 and they remained here. The children were:

George born 1849 married 1.) Rosanna McGuire 2.) Catherine Cunningham and he died in 1915

Daniel Francis born 1854 married Isabella Ward and he died 1887

Mary Ann (who died young)

Robert born 1860 married Teresa (Tess) Murphy. He died 1924(he was married in Roxbury Mass. USA & lived there for a time)

Margaret born 1864 never married and she died 1947

James T. born 1867 married Bridget Louise Keefe and he died 1952

Mary Anne born 1869 married James McMahon and she died 1944

James McCarthy died in 1876 and Margaret died in 1894.
