Leon Kennedy drives to Racoon City to report for his first day of work as a police officer.At the same time, Clair Redfield is making her way to Racoon City to find her brother Chris.
When Leon reaches Racoon city, it is dark and the street are deserted. He stumble across a body in the street, which apears dead. Leon is then attacked by what appear to be Zombies. Since he has a gun, he fends them off and head toward shelter.
When Leon reaches a diner, he runs into Clair and they team up, but are seprated by a large car accident and fire caused by a zombie/man crashing his large truck into their police car. They decide to meet up at the local Racoon City police department.
When they meet up at the station, it too is deserted, and they decide to search for survivors. Leon goes one way, Clair goes another.... Sometime later, Clair meets a young girl. She is looking for her dad, and she knows he is there. He father works for Umbrella, and somehow he tunred up in the station. While Clair meets the little girl, Leon meets the police chief.
The chief was assigned to protect the mayor's daughter, but she ended up dead.
At first the chef may seem innocent, but he is far from it. You find out that he wanted to hunt and kill the Mayor's daughter, but zombies got to her first. he had also been taking large sums of money from Umbrella to ignore what they have been doing.
During the game, there is a little movie that tells about what the little girl's father is and has become. Her father was working in Umbrella when the S.W.A.T. team broke in. He was workign on the "G-Virus" ( a virus that had been improved from the zombie making virus in the first one) A couple officers come into his office and accidently shoot him and he falls to the ground. As he is slowly dying, his wife comes up and attempts to save him, he send her away and injects himself with the remaining G-Virus tubes. He then turns into:
While in the parking lot, Leon meets a reporter looking for her boyfriend. She has decided that the reported somewhere in racoon city know where he is. Leon helps her fidn him, and it turns out he has locked himself in a jail cell.
The reporter is left by himself, but not for long. The mutant, (shown earlier) slides down a ventilation shaft and into his cell. It forces a worm-like/snake-like thing down his throat and he falls down knocked out.
Leon stumbles acroos him later, slupmed over in a corridor. He suddenly awakes and splits in half. The larve thing crawls out and quickly gets away.
Before he reaches the sewer, leon sees the larvae, it grows and grows until it is huge.
Leon and Clair escape through the sewers to the Umbrella Corp. building. There they face the mutated father guy again, but this time he has mutated again..
At the end of the game, there are only three survivors, Leon, Clair, and the little girl. The cheif suffered the same fate as the reporter, and the girl Leon met, Ada Wong was killed by the muated guy's wife(the little girl's dad). Ada Wong did not die without shooting the wife though. The G-Virus Threat is now over..... But we all know its not.
