By profession I am a scientist. Specifically, I am a molecular and cellular biologist. I also might call myself a scientist politically, since I am particularly angered by the anti-scientific approach of many political groups. On the right are the creationists and the moral majority who reject Darwinism and other very well established scientific theories. The Republican party in general seems amazingly thick-headed about environmental problems. Anyone familiar with the journals Science and Nature can't help but see that global warming and ozone depletion are theories backed by some very real science and must be addressed both by further research as well as by reasonable environmental policy. Yet the Republicans, with a few exceptions, refuse to even discuss the possibilities that environmental problems exist. On the other hand, the environmental movement itself also contains alot of anti-scientific and pseudo-scientific nonsense. Eventually I will include some discussions about scientific and environmental issues on this site--e.g. Entremed's new approach to curing cancer, a description of how Darwinian evolution works, etc.
I have been getting some requests for more science-oriented articles. So I will be trying to add to this page at a faster rate...if I can find the time. So check back and also let me know if there are particular topics you want me to write about.
Some of the links I provide are intended for non-scientists to learn about scientist's views regarding evolution, environmental issues, etc. Other links are intended to be helpful to other scientists.
