ONCE AGAIN
Z-BOYS.COM GAVE YOU THE SCOOP
BEFORE ANYONE ELSE!
online and never released to the public
rough deleted scene from the documentary "DogTown and Z-Boys"
The very loose rough cut discusses the original DogTown articles.
It begins with some material that will be familiar to those who have seen the film,
but then goes on to show various quotes from the stories
and an entire scene that is an homage to
the DogTown godfather Craig Stecyk III
that was cut entirely.

"JAY-BOY" officially released on October 31st, 2006!
A new book of photographs taken by KENT SHERWOOD (Jay Adam's stepfather and founder of Z-FLEX skateboards)
Late 60's and early 70's SKATING, SURFING, and LIFESTYLE.
Awesome photos of JAY, ALVA, SHOGO, B-PAUL, WENTZLE all before the original Z-BOYS really became known.
Some of the childhood images of Jay were seen in the 'Dogtown and Z-Boys' documentary.
Most others HAVE NOT BEEN SEEN ANYWHERE EVER BEFORE.
Adams wrote the captions in his own hand writing for the book, while in jail, (mis-spellings and all).
GLEN E. FRIEDMAN edited through all of Kents' images, and has selected
the cream of the crop for the 100 page hardcover that he also designed.
C. R. STECYK III wrote the introduction.
Originally planned to come out with a major art book publisher in the fall of 2007,
it was put on the fast track and is now available via CONCRETE WAVE EDITIONS.
with all profits going to the Jay Adams Family Fund.

In 2001 SkateBoarder Magazine did a
"Most infamous skateboard crews" article.
Of course the DOGTOWN crew led it off...
check it out...

Twenty years ago, if you found yourself standing next to the volatile,
gravity-defying Alva at some crowded backyard pool in the Valley, and he
was planning to take the next run--even though he'd just taken the last
one--it was best to not even look at him.
Tonight, however, such ancient protocols are no longer in effect. Alva,
41. . has come to skate the new Vans Skatepark. . As a dozen or so mostly teenage skaters stand waiting to try out one of the park's two cement pools, they seem wholly oblivious to Alva...
As Alva stands, poised at the edge of the drop, rocking slightly, his
left foot planted on the board, a wispy blond-haired nine-year-old,
completely unaware of him, stands in the same position just a few feet
away. And when the guy in the pool blows a backside grind at its far end, the nine-year-old pushes off with his right foot.
It's a moment of minor blasphemy--a nine-year-old, a kid who can barely
even skate, dropping in on Alva! Alva, the leader of the Dogtown boys, the
former World Champion, the godfather of urban skate-punks who transformed
skateboarding from a sport of short little muscular dudes doing nose
wheelies into the minor religion that it is today. Does the kid have any clue what he's doing? Any clue at all?
Twenty years ago, "Mad Dog" Alva would have fired his board at the tiny
kid's head. But today, he simply claps twice, like a Little League coach, and smiles at all the shorties in line....
Twenty years ago, you did not drop in on Tony Alva.
