Latest News Oh yeah! A proper win last Sunday as the lads took the Corner Pin on at the Imps and came away with a really hard fought and solid performance, resulting in a 2-1 success. My MOM Tom Brennan burst into the box to score the first on the half hour, and Matt Warren smashed in a loose ball off a corner on the hour for 2-0. Some really solid defending following losing CJ to a hamstring pull restricted the former Section A side to one reply. A great team performance, which would have been topped off at the end if the keeper hadn't handled Ryan Finch's shot outside of the box. No action required though, as the excellent Titch McHugh blew for full time, stating that the watch 'saved him there'! Welcome to the 7th edition of Brighty’s rant Another fantastic performance against a good team, different to the week before in that we had to fight all the way to get the result. Again we are a match for anybody in this league and hopefully now we can move forward and build on these 2 wins. Good games from all involved losing CJ through injury was a blow but John Hocking did well when he came on and Guesty was outstanding in the Centre of defence along with Kev Thomas who is playing out of his skin at the moment. It was great to get a view inside of Bowen’s passion wagon on Sunday and even more to my surprise when he was sat there showing his tools to Barlow and Guesty. Gag from the line came from Maka who proved his quick humour with an old skool blast at the Corner Pin player who lambasted the ISA touchline. When Mozzer took his time retrieving a 'loose' shot, the Corner Pin player shouts to the line, "Have you only got one ball?"; Maka "No I have 2 balls". Corner Pin player "I bet they are full"; Maka "No I emptied them on your missus last night". Corner Pin player……….no comeback. Spots - well Phil Bolland was a half decent shout for one of their players' but their right back attracted most attention with Captain Caveman or Billy Mitchell from Eastenders! Where else on a Sunday morning could you get a conversation based around historical affairs, the ISA changing room. In one corner of the dressing room the lads discussed the usual Sunday morning chit chat…booze, shagging and football whilst in the opposite corner several of the mature breed of ISA squad members indulged in a conversation relating to the beginnings of fascism and whether it was the Nazis who invented it. Keen historian Renny stated that the Nazis brought fascism in around the time of the 2nd world war however Maka and I argued that fascism had been brought about prior to this. Internet searches proved inconclusive with Political spectators themselves arguing whether fascism occurred first in 1915 in Italy or in 1922 when Mussolini became Italian Prime Minister so we’ll leave that one where it is for now. Next week the Changing room history corner will be discussing the life and times of Spanish dictator Franco. Anyway 2 free weeks coming up and I’m on the verge of arranging training so you’ll be hearing from me very soon. See below for upcoming fixtures.

The Gaffer fulfils a lifelong dream
Chester City FC - 2006/07, including Paul Brighton (front centre), and Andrew Temple (front). Andrew and Paul won the True Blue card draw to be included in this years team photo. Mixed blessings The lads have had a mixed start to the season, losing the League opener at home to relegated Waverton FC, then going away to Custom House on Westminster Park and coming away with an excellent 2-0 win (Matt Phoenix and Graeme Reynolds). We then held Section A Saltney Ferry for over an hour before going down 3-0 in the League Cup, and showed great spirit with a depleted squad in coming back from 3-1 down to force extra time in the FA Cup against the Bromfield. Unfortunately, although we went 4-3 up in extra time, we tired and lost the game 6-4 (Matt Warren 2, Scott Ditchfield, Mark Fitzpatrick). Next Sunday sees the first ISA vs Highfield derby for 6 seasons, as the Blacon pub side visit the Imps. ***BLUES PROMOTED*** The ISA FC were promoted at the League AGM from Section C to Section B following their 3rd place finish in the League last season. This means that the Club will be playing at the highest level it EVER has next year. The new season kicks off on Sunday 3rd September. Excellent new Sunday League Website Eight Rights Rangers FC goalkeeper James 'Greeny' Green has started an excellent message board, called Sunday Service, which will carry all of the latest Chester and District Sunday League results, tables, gossip, etc, and also has areas to talk about any old shit you require! Find it here. Please go and support this, because it is an excellent idea. A large selection of other team pics can be found here!
