Biography: Marion Zimmer was born June 3, 1930 in Albany, NY. She received her B.A. from Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, Texas, then did graduate work at the University of California, Berkeley. Though she is best known for her Darkover novels, she wrote everything from science fiction to fantasy. She was also an editor for many magazines, including her own fantasy magazine, which she started in 1988. She also edited an annual anthology called Sword and Sorceress. She died in Berkeley, California on September 25, 1999, after suffering a major heart attack. She has two sons, David Bradley and Patrick Breen and a daughter named Moira Stern.
