ABOUT THE WOMEN'S AUXILIARY

The Women's Auxiliary of the Animal Rescue League of Western Pennsylvania was formed by a group of caring and dedicated Pittsburgh women in the 1930's. Their mission was to provide direct help to the animals awaiting adoption at the shelter located on Hamilton Avenue in East Liberty.

Various fundraising projects throughout the year have enabled members of the Auxiliary to make improvements to the shelter, such as helping to install a low-cost veterinary clinic for the area's homeless animals. Past fundraising projects have included a cookbook containing recipes from animal-loving celebrities, annual poinsettia sales, Wag Day, fashion shows, flea markets, etc. Dedicated members, driven by their love for animals, plan to continue their fundraising efforts well into the next millennium.
