Remake of Original Movie 2007

Since the late nineties rumors of a remake of the PIRANHA have come up from time to time. However, it seems that Dimension films is getting more serious with the idea and has signed on a deal to distribute the remake.

Chuck Russell (SCORPION KING) has signed on to helm the flick with the story taking place in Lake Havasu, Arizona which sits in the crater formed by a prehistoric eruption. Prehistoric being the keyword here. A tremor cracks open the bottom of the lake floor and soon hordes of the tiny critters are set loose on unsuspecting people.

The original film was a Corman produced film, with the screenplay being written by John Sayles who would later earn two Oscar nominations-not for this film though. Joe Dante helmed this film as one of his earliest efforts. A remake was made in 1995 with Soleil Moon Frye starring in the flick.
