German Potato Salad


    30 lb. potatoes
    3 lb. bacon
    1 doz. boiled eggs
    2 lb. chopped onions
    1/4 c. flour
    3 c. sugar
    3 c. vinegar
    3 c. water
    3 to 4 tsp. celery seed

    Boil potatoes and peel while hot and dice. Dice the eggs
    and put in layers with the potatoes. While potatoes are
    boiling, prepare sauce. Fry bacon until crisp. Take bacon out
    and leave enough grease in to fry onions. Mix sugar, vinegar,
    water and flour. Add to onions after they are fried through
    (about 5 minutes). Stir until thickened. Then add celery
    seed. Pour over hot potatoes, keep warm in oven or electric
    roaster. Just so potatoes are slightly warm.
