Here are some links to other sites that I've enjoyed visiting (and a few pages that I've enjoyed creating):

Costa Rica related:

The Birding Club of Costa Rica - Are you a birdwatcher living in Costa Rica? Or do you visit here regularly? Then look in to joining the Birding Club where you can share your passion with similarly minded folks and enjoy discounted travel to great birding areas each month.

Complete Costa Rica bird list - All currently known 877 species recorded from this tiny country! Includes English common names, scientific names, and recommended Spanish names (from Stiles and Skutch). Due to the size of the file, it is posted in two parts: Non-Passerines and Passerines. [TIP: If the pages don't load completely, try hitting the RELOAD button.]

Costa Rica's Natural Attractions - An on-line guide to Costa Rica's history, geology, climate and attractions, featuring a complete (or very nearly so) annotated listing of the country's national parks, biological reserves and wildlife refuges. If you're planning a trip to Costa Rica, you really ought to take a peek at the info that's included here.

La Nación - Costa Rica's leading daily Spanish language newspaper; includes search engine for researching back editions. There's also a summary in English of recent major news items. And you can even check out an article about my family of birders in a recent Sunday supplement.

The Tico Times  - Costa Rica's weekly English language newspaper. The on-line version only features a few of each week's stories, but now there is an electronic archive of back issues.

Satellite weather movie of Central America - see what the weather's been doing in this region of the world--right up to within the last hour or so!

Costa Rican Meteorological Institute - our national weather service's site (in Spanish) includes a recent (usually) satellite photo of the region and daily forecasts with commentary for the country's five major climatic provinces.

Regional satellite weather photo - shows cloud cover and precipitation in the area within the last half hour.

The Sights and Sounds of Costa Rica - Doug Von Gausig's web pages reporting on his four birding trips to Costa Rica in the past few years, COMPLETE WITH SOUND CLIPS of several dozen species of birds.

An Interview with Dr. Skutch - An interview from January 1997 with Dr. Alexander F. Skutch, in which the great naturalist and author reflects back on his 70 years of nature study and bird observation in the neotropics, and specifically Costa Rica.

Artwork by Dana Gardner - The website of the artist who has illustrated many of Dr. Skutch's books as well as numerous field guides, including A Guide to the Birds of Costa Rica.

World Headquarters - A site with practically every imaginable type of information about Costa Rica and Panama.
