Marty started playing guitar at the age of 12.He received a Hondo acoustic for Christmas that year. He began practice at least 4 hours a day. At the age of 15 he became lead guitarist for his cousins band “The Ellis Brothers”. He remained their lead guitarist until 1984. In the summer of 84 he began his professional career as lead guitarist for “The Stageline Connection Band”. In the fall of 1984 he returned to East Newton High school. And graduated in the spring of 1985. He than began a 4 year stint as lead guitarist for “Wolf Track”. Traveling the Southwest and Western United States. In the spring of 1990 he was married and put together his own group. They were named “Shadow”. In 1992 he was ask to join the group “Midnight Rodeo”. He toured with them for 1 year. Than reformed and renamed his old group. They changed their name to “Steel Wheels”. In the spring of 1993 Marty moved to Nashville Tennessee. Where he lived until Feb. 1999. While there he had some success with his song writing and was also lead guitarist or bassist for several name acts. In Feb. 1999 Marty retuned back to Mo. And was divorced. He promptly returned to doing roadwork with the band “Hired Gun”. In Jan. 2000 "Destiny" was formed.In Febuary 2002 Destiny was renamed "SteelWheels"(one of Marty's former band names) and went on a 9 week tour of the of New Mexico,S.Dakota,and Wyoming.In August of 2001 "Destiny" agian started doing club dates in the 4 state area(Missouri,Oklahoma,Kansas,and Arkansas).Marty has remained their lead guitarist and shares the vocal chores . His traditional country as well as rock and blues influenced guitar style helps set Destiny apart from their counterparts.
