Doug began playing drums in 1976 when his dad bought him a 1967 Rogers Dynasonic snare drum (which he still plays on occasion). He played drums in his high school jazz band and in 1983 began his professional career playing with the Kountry Kuzins. In 1985, while attending college at Pittsburg State University, he formed the christian rock band In-Courage. During the late 80's he hooked up with christian songwriter Shannon Workman to do studio work. In 1991 Doug joined the christian rock band New Jerusalem. 1994 through 1997 saw Doug with the gospel group The Chapelaires. After many years away from country music, Doug returned to his roots when he joined up with Destiny. Doug enjoys the band's aggressive style of country music and playing the rock and blues he grew up on.
