Hints for building tin can art.,Wash and dry cans ,Use exterior Liquid nails to glue cans together. It costs a little more but it goes further and stays glued out doors so is cheaper in the long run.Build projects in sections that fit together without gluing,Makes for easier handling. Also makes it easier to paint.
                                           Example
There are over 600 cans in the Catapillar project. and it is built in 8 sections 2-sets of wheels/with axles reinforced with a piece of 3/8 ths  Iron bar in each axle. 2-Track sections 1-Cab top 1-front Blade 1-front body section 1- rear body section. I glued 2 pieces of 1/2"" or 3/4" PVC pipe to the bottom of both body sections long enough to rest on the opposite axle. I also used PVC 1/2" to build control levers. ( hint ) be a miser with the liquid nails less is better.
