JYNX: IF IT'S GOOD FOR THE BIRDS, IT MUST BE GOOD FOR ME
Jynx lives up to his name at all
times. He is the clown of the family and if there's
trouble afoot, you can bet your boots that Jynx is at
the bottom of it. They both like cuddles, but Jynx especially
loves them and will jump into your lap, onto your back or anywhere
else he can fit. His favourite trick at the moment is
to jump into the car as soon as I open the door. He likes
to ride down the drive, where I put him out and he quite
happily goes home. If I don't let him into the car, he
jumps onto the roof then slides down the windscreen.
How can I resist such a plea? And when I'm sitting at
my computer working, he insists on sitting on my lap
while I try to type, so if there are mistakes in this text
It's all his fault. (This was written in 1999. It's now 2009 and nothing has changed with Jynx. He's exactly the same, if a little slower
ON GUARD
Jynx (left) and Rudi like to sit in the highest possible place to keep guard over their territory. Here they (below) are at about 7 months of age. This picture was taken on a summer evening, and unfortunately I had to lighten it to be able to see the cats. It doesn't show their true colours, but it's one of the only photos I have of Rudi other than as a kitten. (See the photos above and below this one for their true colour). Rudi is the hunter of the family and he brings home anything that will fit in his mouth: butterflies, shells, and even an old glove. I have thrown it out many times, but every day it's back in the corner of the sitting room where they stash all their toys.

HIGH JYNX
This is Jynx at 18 months, at the top of his cat pole, drunk
with sunshine. He has a new fettish these days, rubber jandals.
For those who don't know, jandals are just a sole with
a thong that comes up between the toes. Anyway, Jynx
has decided to take over the role of hunter now that Rudi
isn't with us, and he
prowls the immediate neighbourhood collecting jandals.
The soft rubber ones are best, he likes to chew them to
pieces. He carries them home and drags them into the
house through his cat-flap. Of course, he only brings
home one of each pair, he doesn't want to be greedy!!
