As said on the other page Studio 5000 is a hobby and all profit goes to people in need. It is based on the so called 'economy of communion', a new way of looking at economic structures. A few words about how it all started Economy of Communion "Unlike the consumer economy, based on a culture of having, the Economy of Communion is based on the culture of giving. This might seem to be difficult, ambitious, heroic, but it is not so, because human beings made in the image of God, who is love, find their fulfilment in loving, in giving. This need is in the deepest recesses of their being whether they have faith or not. On this basis, supported by our experience, lies the hope of a universal spreading of the Chiara Lubich--Brazil, May 1991 |
The project In 1991 Chiara Lubich, founder of the international Focolare Movement, while crossing the city of San Paolo, was deeply troubled to see the densest concentrations of skyscrapers in the world flanked by vast areas of slums. She felt driven by the urgency of the need to provide food, shelter, medical assistance, and if possible employment, at least for those people in Brazil who formed part of the Focolare Movement. She invited the 200,000 members of the Focolare Movement in Brazil to start productive businesses with the capacity to generate profits and creating employment for its inhabitants. Chiara proposed to all those who chose to become shareholders of these businesses, to freely give one third of the profits for capital reinvestment. |
