In the tradition of Ukrainian egg-decorating, the deer represents leadership,
victory, joy and masculinity. In Celtic mythology, the swift and graceful
stag was an Otherworldly messenger. Hunters who came upon a stag, might be
led deeper into the woods to find adventure. The Celts also worshipped a horned
god in the form of a man with antlers, who was Lord of the Forest and of the
Underworld. Made from glazed red earthenware clay, the back of this limited
edition piece displays the artist's signature stamp and the LQP chop mark,
1 3/8" high.
