Chris Redman made his way to
Louisville in 1996, and became a starter in 1997, throwing for
3,079 yards. Under current coach John L. Smith, Redman
blossomed; completing 309-of-473 passes for 4,042 yard and 29
touchdowns in only 10 games in 1998. As a senior he completed
317-of-489 throws for 3,647 yard and 29 scores as he became just
the third quarterback in Division I-A history to throw for over
12,000 career yard.
Strengths: He set the NCAA career mark for passes thrown and
completed. As the son of a coach, he possesses a keen feel of
the game and has pinpoint pass control with a quick release.
When given time to check off he will find the open receiver.
Added muscle to his tall frame during his career and is regarded
as one of the toughest quarterbacks in the game as he will take
hits in the pocket.
Weaknesses:
The weak point about chris is Lacks mobility and is not a
serious threat to run from the pocket. On some occasions, has a
tendency to look down receivers and force throws. He may still
be hampered by a neck injury suffered during the 1999 season.
