ACF Fall Southwest 2003

Ten teams (five Div. I, five Div. II) attended the Southwest version of ACF Fall 2003, here in sunny Fayetteville at the Walton College of Business. Standings after the full round robin are below. In short, Texas A&M Grad (Romero, Candace, Trey, Susan) went undefeated, and Texas (Adam, Eric) finished 8-1, with their only loss being to A&M Grad. The two teams squared off in a best-of-three final, with A&M Grad having a one-game advantage. A&M Grad won the first game, 330-170, to win the overall championship.

In Division II, Arkansas A (Ryan, Willie, Matt) finished 7-2 and convincingly won the Div. II title. Tulsa (Grant, Angelo, Arlo, Josh) finished 4-5 and finished second in Div. II.

High scorers in Div. I were Adam from Texas, Romero and Candace from A&M Grad, and Scott from A&M Undergrad (who also won the neg title). High scorers in Div. II were Ryan from Arkansas A (3rd overall), Taylor from Arkansas B (4th overall), Grant from Tulsa, and Richard from Texas-Dallas B.

In the Halloween costume department, my vote goes to Michael, a.k.a. Spongebob, from Texas-Dallas B. I'm glad I didn't wear my tiger face paint, because the entire Texas-Dallas contingent would have put me to shame.

Thanks go out to all of the teams for coming and partaking in Kelly McKenzie's third ACF Fall masterpiece, and to Arkansas Quiz Bowl members Andy, Lynn, Haley, and Phillip, and Arkansas Quiz Bowl alumnus Neil Jones for staffing. Also, thanks to Chris Sewell for inventing SQBS and to Angelfire for letting an HTML dumbnut like me make cool webpages.
