East Ridge Middle School Art

"Imagination is more important than knowledge."  - Albert Einstein

East Ridge Middle School has started a new art program designed to connect art with the social studies curriculum of each grade level. This not only reinforces what the students are learning in another discipline, but it allows the students to build upon their art experiences every year with a varying focus of art instruction.

In addition, this year students are not only involved with the production of art, but they are talking and writing about art.  Through this process students can learn to appreciate and better understand artists and their work.  At the end of the nine week period, East Ridge Middle School students will not only be able to discuss art processes and techniques, but they will be able to tell you where you can find cave paintings, or what type of art Diego Riveria created, or describe and identify a piece in Chattanooga's Hunter Museum of American Art.

I am very proud of the talented students of East Ridge Middle School and the work they have done this year. This web page is designed for parents and students so they can see pictures of our classroom, student art work, and brief descriptions some of the work completed.
