USTF One-Step Sparring
One-Steps and the like enable the student to become more accustomed to being attacked and dealing with the situation. Up to green belt, the attack is a straight-forward punch. The student will evade or block and counter according to a pre-arranged sequence. Blue belts have varied attacks but their response is still set beforehand. Red belts are likewise however they learn the ability to manipulate joint-locks. The black belt section is merely a guideline and suggestions. Black belts do not have knowledge of the attack and will respond "on the spot."
