Asael D and Elizabeth Collier Payne Piatt

Asael Daniel Piatt was born to Daniel Piatt and Elizabeth Cain on January 14, 1841, (or 1842) in Boone County, Kentucky. Asael was named for his mother's father, Asael Cain.

In 1867, Asael Piatt married Elizabeth Collier Payne who was born in January of 1849 in Fayette County, Kentucky. Asael died in 1915 and Elizabeth in 1934. Both are buried in the Lexington Cemetery, Scott County, Kentucky.

Asael and Elizabeth had eight known children:

Asael and Elizabeth were living with her father, Augustus Payne, during the 1880 census of Scott County, Kentucky, federal census: It would appear that Jemima 'Mima' is enumerated as Mamie and Daniel Augustus as Augustus. A son, Thomsas, credited to Asael and born 1877 was not enumerated with this family. At three years old he is really too young to have been living with someone else. He also does not appear on the 1900 census with this family which leads me to believe that he is not their son. Does anyone have any ideas where he was, or, is he incorrectly attached to Asael and Elizabeth from some later record?

By the 1900 census of Scott County, Kentucky, Asael and family appeared as follows:

Again, Thomas is not listed with this family.
