Michele's Eclectic Bunch of Stuff

This page is under construction (as if you haven't heard that one before). I will add to it when I get the chance.

Well, I guess I should indulge in the requisite personal history. After all, I'm leaving this page to history to say I was here!

What to say about myself? I am a 27-year-old Libra, born October 15, 1975. I am currently living in Columbus, OH, with my sweeties Matt and Viv. Yay for the beginnings of community! I just recently graduated from theCreative Writing Workshop at theUniversity of New Orleans with an MFA in Creative Nonfiction. I have an AA in Music from Westark College and a BFA in Creative Writing from Arkansas Tech University. I'm currently unemployed but looking, so if any of you out there know of any good editing jobs in Columbus, please email me! In my spare time (which I used to complain that I didn't have enough of...and now I have too much of!), I like to read (sci-fi/fantasy mostly---I'm a HUGE Robert Heinlein and Anne McCaffrey fan!), listen to music (almost anything except country, but especially new age, classical, and rock), write poetry and nonfiction (mostly memoirish pieces), compose music, and/or surf around the Net.

What else? I belong to a few organizations. I am an alumna in Phi Theta Kappa (Zeta Epsilon chapter, Westark College, Fort Smith, AR), an International Honor Society for Two-Year Colleges. I also belong to Sigma Tau Delta (Omicron Tau chapter, Arkansas Tech University, Russellville, AR), the International English Honor Society, although I never was able to be active with them. Not of my own choosing...I joined my last year at Tech, when I was so busy I wasn't sleeping hardly, and there wasn't a chapter at UNO. I am an active alumna member of Sigma Alpha Iota (Zeta Rho chapter, Arkansas Tech University), an International Music Fraternity for Women. I was initiated in Fall 1997, and have held the offices of Vice President of Membership, Yearbook Editor/Historian, and Web Page Editor (which I am still doing for them remotely). I'm a Charter Member of the reactivated New Orleans Alumnae Chapter. Right now I'm working on hooking up with the Columbus Alumnae Chapter. Gotta stay active! Another group I belonged to at Tech was BiGALA: The Bisexual, Gay, And Lesbian Alliance, which deals with gay rights, along with being a safe environment and providing support. At UNO, I joined the Rainbow Alliance, an organization similar to BiGALA. Outside of school, I belong to The Church of All Worlds, a Pagan organization loosely based on the book Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert Heinlein. (Is it any wonder that I didn't have any spare time when I was going to school and working?!?)

Some other little extraneous things about me. I collect unicorns, faeries, dragons, and cobalt blue glass. I also cross-stitch, which I think is pretty unusual for someone my age. My mom taught my sisters and I when we were very young, and I find it very relaxing. My mom says that I should've been a teenager in the Sixties, if that tells you anything. And I have a LiveJournal, should you want to keep up with my day-to-day!

The store's still under construction, so keep checking back because new books will probably be listed daily for a while.
